A man in Ondo State accused of beating his pregnant wife to death has been remanded in police custody.
Oluwaseun Olabode, 47, allegedly hit the right side of his wife’s stomach during a minor disagreement. Blessing died and the unborn child, too.
The accused reportedly committed the crime on April 3, 2020, at No 56 Oke-Agba area of Akure.
He was arraigned on a one-count charge before an Akure Magistrate Court Wednesday by Ondo State Police Command.
Police Prosecutor, Inspector Uloh Goodluck, told the court the offence was punishable under Section 319 (1) of the Criminal Code Cap 36 Volume 1 Laws of Ondo State.

He said the suspect committed murder and urged the court to remand him to police custody pending legal advice from the Department of Public Prosecution (DPP).
Counsel to the suspect, A. Ololike, did not oppose the application for a remand order.
The presiding magistrate, N. T Aladejana, ordered Olabode remanded in police custody pending legal advice from the DPP.
He adjourned the case to September 8, 2020.
The case continues.
